Michael Ogus, Partner
Michael Ogus is a Chartered Architect with over 30 years’ experience in the construction industry. Also, he holds an MSc in Construction Law & Dispute Resolution from King’s College London.
As an architect Michael has acted as a Contract Administrator and Lead Architect for multi-disciplinary teams delivering new build, refurbishment and mixed-use projects. He has successfully negotiated appointments in the UK, Europe, and the Middle East. With a background in the design and management of projects in conservation areas, listed buildings and design & build developments Michael also has substantial experience in risk management; contract and liability issues; procurement and programming; and has advised on dispute resolution options.
As an expert witness Michael has been appointed on over 50 matters and has provided expert opinions on construction defects in new, refurbished and listed buildings. Issues considered include external envelope works encompassing ACM, timber, render and HPL cladding systems, single ply roofing, green roofs, curtain walling, windows, leadwork and brickwork and internal works including doors, joinery, finishes, dry-lining, kitchens and bathrooms.
He has provided expert opinions on fire and flood damaged buildings. These include private and affordable residential accommodation, student housing, care homes, hospitals, hotels, offices, listed buildings, light industrial and leisure facilities. He has also advised on regulatory compliance issues, including compliance with RIBA Work Stages, passive fire protection and has carried out detailed forensic investigations.
