Emma Gerrard, Associate
Emma Gerrard is a Chartered Architect with more than 25 years of experience in the construction industry. Also, she has completed an advanced professional award in expert witness evidence (APAEWE).
As an architect Emma has experience as a project architect, lead consultant, contract administrator, site architect, and project manager on large-scale, complex building projects. These have included high-rise residential; commercial; transportation; education; and urban design projects up to £600M. She has worked for both private and public sector clients and coordinated multi-disciplinary teams. A number of these projects have involved Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas.
Emma has extensive experience of all stages of the design process from conceptual design to planning application, detail design, technical information production, tendering, contract administration, and construction. In addition, she has provided in-house guidance on appointment documents, fee proposals, project monitor services, resource planning, stage report audits, and quality reviews.
Regarding expert witness and advisory work, Emma has worked on expert advisory appointments, in relation to building defects in retail and residential buildings, fire safety issues in a hospital, care home, student accommodation, and multi-storey residential buildings. This has involved her in carrying out forensic site investigations and undertaking forensic analysis of design and construction defects, including those relating to fire safety, water ingress, and timber framed buildings; compliance with building standards; assessment of the architects’ professional duties and contractors’ contractual obligations. Also, Emma regularly assists in the preparation of Expert Reports.
