Janice Tam
Janice Tam is a Chartered Architect and an accredited mediator with more than 20 years of experience in the construction industry. Also, she is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a member of the Academy of Experts.
As a Project Architect leading large-scale and complex building (including high-rise residential, mixed-use developments, transportation, aviation, and healthcare) in London, the Middle East and Hong Kong, her experience covers all stages of the design process from conceptual design to planning application, detail design, multi-disciplinary coordination, technical information production, tendering, and project management through to contract administration and construction. She is proficient in BIM working environment.
Janice is experienced in working on advisory and expert witness appointments. She has provided expert opinion and technical forensic analysis on building defects concerning design and workmanship, such as cladding, fire compartmentation and water ingress issues, from single domestic dwellings to high-rise buildings. She has prepared reports in relation to architects’ professional standard and duties, and contractors’ contractual obligations. She has also assisted in personal injury disputes by preparing disability and/or fully accessible accommodation needs reports, including adaptation and relocation costs.
She is currently a panel member of the ARB Professional Conduct Committee. She also volunteers to act as mediator in the Free Mediation Project run by the Society of Mediators for small claims disputes.
